You may be wondering what imw.today is.
Think of it as chancing across a resting spot on a long hiking trail.
Perhaps you need to catch your breath.
Or maybe you need a quiet place to think things over.
I hope you find it here.

If you enjoy what I write...
I write a weekly column sharing my perspectives on "doing life".
Through these reflections, I hope to engage a wider community, of workforce joiners, mid-career professionals, stay-at-home parents, and childcare givers.

...I hope it provokes introspection and discussion.
#work #family #spirituality
I post essays and reflections on LinkedIn and my Substack, Deeply Boring.
I write about the struggles I encounter in doing life, whether raising a family, supporting friends or encouraging the wonderful people I work with. Through this lens, I investigate the porosity of our professional and personal spheres.
Are we the same person at work and at home, and if not, why not?
How do our attitudes and interactions in one sphere positively or negatively impact our relationships in the other?
In exploring how we can be our true selves in all circumstances, I find myself asking why we sometimes adopt different value systems, often based on context. For example, are we as forgiving of our colleagues as we are of our children (or vice versa)? How can we become our best self, faithful and authentic to our better nature, in all endeavors?
I intend my writings to be spiritually-centered, to narrate how I am confronting these challenges through the perspective of Christian living, which I define as a life in which God's will is supreme. This has two implications.
The first is for me to grasp that denial of self is not a sacrifice but a privilege in service of His intentions.
The second is - understanding God's love for me expressed in the death of Jesus, Messiah - to make God's plan for human flourishing paramount in my life.
I welcome you to read my writings - my hope is that they resonate with you and provide food for thought.
We connect, by providence and grace...

I created imw.today to explore God's plan to help people outside my workplace and immediate network understand how knowing God can transform their work-life experience just as it has transformed mine.
I mainly write about what I feel moved to write, even if it doesn't pick up a lot of views. I don't see that as a measure of success. As such, I don't have aspirations to reach a given number of followers or page views. Instead, I hope what I write reaches someone who can be encouraged to take a step or two in a different direction, if they are not fulfilled by the path they are currently on.
I believe God will make that happen if that is what He intends - and that's where you come in. If you find my writing helpful, I encourage you to give it a like, repost or comment on LinkedIn, and to subscribe to my Substack, Deeply Boring.
Please always feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn and to message me there. I respond to virtually all comments and messages, and value your input and encouragement. Most importantly, if you feel it would help someone, please share any insights you gain from our conversation with your community or someone in need of encouragement.
You are an unbelievably important part of the plan.
And God leads the way...
If imw.today brings us together, we might decide to work together on your needs, while also helping others.
The path is not fixed; we take one step at a time.
In God's kingdom, not everything is knowable in advance. And that's okay, because He's in charge.

I increasingly find myself blessed with the opportunity to engage with fellow travelers as they navigate life's journey and its many competing demands. What I have discovered is that when someone encounters a rocky trail, I find meaning in supporting them as they seek secure footing. You could call it coaching, or mentoring, or just being there for you when you need it.
I'd like to engage with more and more people this way. (But, it is important to understand that I am not a trained counsellor, therapist or psychiatrist. And so I'm not in the business of giving professional help, if that is what you are in need of, though I can refer you to someone in New York if you desire.).
In our conversations, please understand that my points of view will be grounded in the perspective of how God's love can radically change our sense of purpose and self, for the better. If you have entrusted your life to Christ, I welcome you as a sister or brother, and I look forward to sharing the experience of God working in both our lives as we walk together. But even if you are not, I hope practical guidance rooted in common sense nonetheless makes a positive difference in your journey.
I'm not looking to build a client base or fund my retirement. There is no revenue model or business plan for imw.today.
However, if we undertake a coaching arrangement on a recurring basis, I ask that you make a commitment of time or money to one of these causes. Think of this as a "hope multiplier" - as we walk together, other lives are blessed through your generosity. Typically, I would ask that you give something commensurate to the fee you would pay for executive coaching, but I recognize particular circumstances do not always so permit. If that's the case, please let me know and we can discuss appropriate alternative arrangements.
If you're interested in exploring the idea of coaching, message me on LinkedIn with the heading "imw.today" to start a conversation. I can't promise I will make the commitment, but I will prayerfully entertain the possibility.
